    Real-Time Hand Shape Classification

The problem of hand shape classification is challenging since a hand is characterized by a large number of degrees of freedom. Numerous shape descriptors have been proposed and applied over the years to estimate and classify hand poses in reasonable time. In this paper we discuss our parallel framework for real-time hand shape classification applicable in real-time applications. We show how the number of gallery images influences the classification accuracy and execution time of the parallel algorithm. We present the speedup and efficiency analyses that prove the efficacy of the parallel implementation. Noteworthy, different methods can be used at each step of our parallel framework. Here, we combine the shape contexts with the appearance-based techniques to enhance the robustness of the algorithm and to increase the classification score. An extensive experimental study proves the superiority of the proposed approach over existing state-of-the-art methods.Comment: 11 page

“ The final publication is available at Springer via http://dx.doi.org/ 10.1007/978-3-319-07593-8_33"Currently, 3D sensors can be considered an evolution of cameras by providing the image with its depth information. These sensors have a generic function and the programmer has to process the received information in order to be adapted and used in a specific environment. In robots navigation, the 3D information can be useful for basic behaviours such as obstacles avoidance or even more complex behaviours such as maps generation . In this article an image management system provided by the xTion intelligent sensor is presented. The xTion sensor provides a VGA image and a 3D depth, which allows it to be used for several purposes. In order to distribute the data, it is acquired, processed and sent to several clients with a triple buffer system modified to serve the most recent image to the client. The system is programmed in C for Linux and built-in in a Raspberry PI. The article exposes the performance and results from monitoring the frame's delay comparing it with a simple and a double buffer system widely used in this kind of systems.Coordinated project COBAMI: Mission-based Hierarchical Control. The comparative analysis of the selected construction types of axial compressor stage including the modal analysis

    No full text
The article concerns the issues of the scope of optimization of the gas turbine jet engine. These issues include limiting the weight and number of engine parts. One way to reduce the weight and number of components, including the compressor assembly, is to use the BLISK's replacement construction. The replacement construction should meet the strength requirement and the vibration spectrum as well. The paper presents a comparative analysis of the influence of rotational speed on the characters and the vibration frequency of the single rotor stage of the high pressure compressor. The analysis was carried out for two different design solutions of the blade-disk connection: the classical and integral. The comparative analysis focused on three important from the point of view of operation, the engine operating ranges: work on the ground (idle) and work during take-off and climb the aircraft

Information management in passenger traffic supporting system design as a multi-criteria discrete optimization task

This paper presents a concept of an Integrated System of Supporting Information Management in Passenger Traffic (ISSIMPT). The novelty of the system is an integration of six modules: video monitoring, counting passenger flows, dynamic information for passengers, the central processing unit, surveillance center and vehicle diagnostics into one coherent solution. Basing on expert evaluations, we propose to present configuration design problem of the system as a multi-objectives discrete static optimization problem. Then, hybrid method joining properties of weighted sum and ε-constraint methods is applied to solve the problem. Solution selections based on hybrid method, using set of exemplary cases, are shown
